Our Mission
PAWS of Grays Harbor protects dogs and cats until united with family. We are a private no-kill animal shelter located in Grays Harbor County.
We were established as a non-profit organization in June of 1973 making our home in Aberdeen, Washington. We are proud to celebrate 50+ years of service. This organization serves our community through the education of pet owners; providing a safe shelter for lost, abused and unwanted pets; and through pet adoptions to suitable homes.
Many lives have been changed through the love and commitment to saving abandoned and abused pets. More than 500 animals find new homes and loving families through our organization every year. At times during the year, PAWS has housed as many as 80 cats and 20 dogs at one time. These numbers fluctuate depending on the space, funds and man power available to care for these pets. We would love to take every pet in need, but as a no-kill shelter, we do not euthanize for space and can only take in animals as quickly as they get adopted. Because the demand to bring us animals is far greater than the demand to adopt, we have waitlists to bring in both cats and dogs. While we would love to have a larger space and more personnel to better meet the demand, we simply cannot afford to expand. The best solution, however, is to spay and neuter your pets to reduce pet overpopulation.
Through pet adoptions, community volunteers, and donations we are able to change the lives of many people and animals. When you are considering your next pet, please consider adopting a rescue animal. The life you save allows us to save one more. As a private (non-government funded) shelter, our organization relies on community donations to make this all possible. Please consider donating to make sure these services are available in our community for many years to come.
